SEPTEMBER MEETING RECAP

from John Debus

Hi Everyone,

Another great event, and "YES" WE HAD AIR CONDITIONING. The American Legion
has fixed the problem and it was very comfortable all evening. So we will not have
those problems again, and we thanked them for responding to our concerns.
It was a small turn out, fear of no A/C, the rain, lack of interest, or what ever, it was a
great event, with a lot of good information and participation with the group. We thanked
the River Coalition for their presentation and all the work they are doing in trying to fix
the problems with our river and lagoon. We ALL need to get involved by actively
supporting these groups and by calling / e-mailing local, state, and federal representatives
in support for our river and lagoon.

Come out in support of Hands Across The Lagoon on Saturday at one of the eight bridges
or causeways starting at 9:00am until 10:00am. All information is on our web-site Happening
page.

Hope to see you all at our 1st Annual Picnic this Sunday at Pepper Park on the North
Island of Fort Pierce from 11:00am until 2:00pm. Come join like-minded people for a
relaxing, informal day at the river. Also tour the UDT/SEAL Museum across
the street.

A CALL TO ACTION; Please come out to St. Lucie County Commissioner's meeting
on Tuesday 1 October 2013 at 6:00pm at the County building on Virginia Ave in Fort Pierce.
There is a group of Tea Party type people called ac4pr.org that is taking over the meeting
and pushing against Global warming and Sustainability issues being address by Seven50.org.
They have been successful in Indian River County, we need to stop them here. Come and listen
and find out what is going on right here in your backyard, WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT.

Next month Event will be our Annual Organization Meeting with a short movie. Come join us,
become a member and add your opinion on our priorities, direction and plans for our coming
year. Volunteer to serve or nominate others for board positions. Meet and get to know our
members. A short "surprise" documentary movies will also be part of the Event.
Please continue to check our web-site Happening page for all the latest updates on what is
going on. Feel free to contact me at anytime if you have any questions or concerns. My contact
information is on the web-site.

Thanks you for your support,
Take care,
John

  1. Intelligent discussion in regards to the issues on Seven50 is welcomed and appreciated. However, using ad hominem attacks against anyone in defense of one's belief is a very sad approach to take.
There is probably much common ground on civil liberty issues that you may find among those that oppose Seven50 and use that to build a coalition to further those efforts.
However, broadly accusing others with vile accusations is not the approach to take.
It is however one'r right to use their freedom of speech as they see fit, given that they do not aggress upon others.
So in response to John Debus revealing his bigotry the use of free speech has been wielded. John Debus Grand Master Tin Foil Hat Wizard.
There are many that oppose Seven50 that also find issues with the Tea Party or presstitutes like Limbaugh and Hannity, so quit profiling people and placing them into groups based upon your personal bias.
Please attempt to educate yourselves on a topic before stooping to the low of slandering others as racists, it add no value to a debate and only embarrasses oneself. Civil discourse and exchange of ideas is welcome and encouraged.
This message is intended for John Debus as he made those comments as an individual and his comments are not attached to the entire group at TCPA as John Debus so tried to do when offering his despicable comments.
I do hope that others in TCPA would be willing to engage in civil discourse and potentially work cooperatively on issues where we find agreement and agree to disagree with dignity where we do not find ourselves on the same side of an issue.

  2. As moderator of this forum, I would like to remind participants that only individuals may post comments to the blog. In future, all anonymous or group-oriented posts will be removed. We at the TCPA welcome all opinions and respect other points-of-view. We discuss ideas, we do not disparage people.

  3. In response to your comment, let me state unequivocally that when I spoke at the Commissioner Meeting, the words were my own, not that of the TCPA. I did not mention the group. I admit that using the Klu Klux Klan to make a point about your lack of diversity was wrong and I apologize. I do understand that all those at the Palm City meeting are not racist and my comments were inappropriate. However, racism in our country is a very large problem and I have never met a racist who would admit they were racist. It is MY OPINION and that of many others that the Tea Party has more than their fair share, which I BELIEVE explains your membership's lack of diversity. What I said, was that our county has a diverse population and the commissioners need to take that into consideration before taking any action. Yes, I did go to your website, and feel no need to respond to your wrote. I defer to your readers to form their own opinion on your tactics and integrity. As for your question about our universal rights and “who decides” the answer is in the first three words of our constitution “We the People”.

My statement about Limbaugh and Hannity had nothing to do about racism. It was in response to your organization’s non-partisan claim. I’m sure if you would ask either radio host, they would proudly state they are right wing Republican Tea Party people and this is their target audience. There was ample evidence to refute you are not non-partisan: your meeting was sponsored by the executive committee of the Republican Party, your speakers were clearly Republican, and people were handing out Tea Party business cards, calling us their enemy. I wonder why you are reluctant to admit who you are. Frankly, I find your non-partisan claims to be deceptive, and fool no one, not the audience nor the commissioners.

Yes, perhaps there are issues that we could work together on. I’ve talked to many Tea Party people on many issues and there are areas that we agree on. One is the money/lobbyist influence in our representative government. The Movetoamend.org is a non- partisan organization working with all parties to amend the Constitution and put the people back in charge. Another is the Trans Pacific Partnership that President Obama is trying to fast track through Congress, which gives foreign corporations and governments’ jurisdiction over many American communities and laws.

We are planning an event for November on either the Seven50 plan, or the TPP, and invite you to join us if you so choose. In line with our philosophy, we will have a knowledgeable instructor leading the meeting who deals with hard facts. The meeting is not an opportunity to spread misinformation or imagined fear, or to slander the speaker or attendees. The mission of the TCPA is to increase awareness and we are always seeking people who are open-minded enough to expand their understanding of important issues.

Again I apologize for my inappropriate accusations. Sincerely, John Debus
