REMINDER: APRIL'S MEETING

from John Debus

Hi Everyone,
A reminder for our coming event this Tuesday 6 pm to 8 pm, again, at our new location at The American Legion Post #40, 801 US 1, Fort Pierce, Fl 32950. Please use the front entrance (on US 1) and it is the room on the right side as you come in the door. Parking is on the side.
We are very excited to be hosting Sister Patricia Sieman from the Center for Earth Jurisprudence at Barry University, to speak on CEJ's mission and "Earth Rights". Please come early to socialize or help set up and get good seats. If you love nature and our planet this is a must see and hear event. We have solved the video and audio problems from last month, so we are looking forward to a great evening.
Our events are free and open to the public, so bring and/or invite friends and family. Donations are welcome but not necessary. Donations at this event will go to Sister Patricia for her travel expenses and time. She does not charge us as a speaker, her motivation is her cause "earth rights".
If you care to join and support our organization (not required) our membership fees are $ 15 per person and $ 20 per family annually. This is what helps maintain our programs, reach out to our community and helps make them aware of our issues and get their support.
Any organization, group, or people that have events coming up and would like to post them on our web-site's Happenings page, please send them to me or Kathy. The information will be posted ASAP. Also please visit our blog and facebook page and make your opinion and ideas known. If you have information and/or petitions please bring them to our event, we have lots of room on our tables to support you.
We ask new people to sign in with their e-mail address and/or telephone numbers to keep them informed of our activities. Please print clearly. We also ask everyone to get a name tag when you come in so that we and others can address you properly. Our documentary movies program is available for our members to borrow movies and return them at next event. Check out our small collection. Just need to sign them out.
"My opinion" program is on going, choose a subject, limit it to 300 words or less and submit it to be read at the end of our event. We want to know how you feel on issues and what are you passionate about.
We will be trying to start some committees. Right now we are looking at two: (1) Earth Rights (2)Move to Amend. If you have other ideas or want to get involved with these committees please let me know or sign up at the event. Also if you have an idea for an issue, movie (+/- 1 hour) or speaker to host an event in the future please contact us. Remember this is your t.c.p.a. We will start taking non perishable food donations at our events to give to the local food banks
FYI
May 10th & 11 (Fri-Sat) is Day of Action against Corporate Person hood. Some Move to Amend people have scheduled a protest for Saturday May 11th from 10 AM to 12 noon at the library across from the Farmer's Market in downtown Ft. Pierce. So, bring your "Corporations are not people" and "Money is not free speech" signs (extra signs will be on hand) and help bring awareness to this issue. They will be collecting signatures for their petition and handing out brochures.
Attendance at our events is growing every month and I think this Tuesday will be the largest turn out of all because of all the new people whom have contacted me for information and directions. So, come on out, meet everyone, join in the conversation, socialize with like minded people and enjoy a great evening. All for great causes. Water, Green Tea, and Popcorn will be on hand or bring your own drink and snack. You can NOT bring alcohol drinks into the building, however they are available at the bar in the next room.
I hope to meet and see everyone there. For any questions, problems or suggestions you can ALWAYS contact me at ANYTIME. My info is on the web-site as well as directions.
Take care,
See you Tuesday,
John.
